Our adoption fee is $200 per cat and $350 to 450 for a purebred cat. When costs such as housing, food, and vet care are factored we do not make any money on our kitties and we absolutely don't mind.

The adoption fee includes a spay or neuter , vaccination, routine vet care. We also include a care package of food which includes a starter package of dry food, and a small selection of wet food featuring some of brands which are listed on our recommended food page.

The average time it takes to process an application is 3 days. Although kitty-related emergency do happen so sometimes we take a bit long. Sadly, we do not have enough volunteers to reply to every application, so only successful applicants will be contacted.

Our fostering program is a program that places our kitties in the hand of wonderful people who are willing to work with cats who are under socialized, unable to get along with other kitties, or any other issue where they would need individual attention. In our fostering program all food and vet care is provided by Guildwood Cat Relief. 

Our foster-to-adopt program is designed for people who are not yet ready to commit to cat ownership but are interested in adopting in the near future. This is mainly for cats who are ready for adoption and Guildwood Cat Relief still provides food and vet care. However, we do expect that potential adopters also participate some of the cost as well.

Please note that all kittens under 6 months of age, and kittens who have not yet been spayed or neutered are only available via the Foster-to-Adopt program. Guildwood Cat Relief will make up the arrangements for the spay or neuter of the kitten(s).

A cat or kitten generally needs at least 2 weeks in order to adjust to their new environment. If you have any issues, questions, or concerns about your new kitty, please contact us and we will do our very best to assist you.

Guildwood Cat Relief will take any kitty back no questions asked. However, we do encourage you to let us know why you are returning the cat so we can find him/her a new home. We will also allow you to exchange a cat for another if that suits you. We do not however in most cases we are unable to refund adoption fees.

Yes, Guildwood Cat Relief provides everyone one of our kitties with a routine vet exam, and sterilization (spay or neuter) if we find that the kitty has not been spayed or neutered yet.

Guildwood Cat Relief does not spay or neuter kittens under 6 months of age. Some of our youngest kittens (under 4 months) have not received all their required vaccinations yet. If you are interested in adopting a kitten(s) under 6 months of age, please fill out an application for our Foster-to-Adopt program. Guildwood Cat Relief will spay or neuter the kitten(s) when they become 6 months of age using one of their local veterinarians with no charge to the foster.

Guildwood Cat Relief has a list of recommended foods under the healthy food section of this website. You are also welcome to contact us if you would like some suggestions. 

If you are currently fostering a cat or have a cat in your home who is from our foster-to-adopt program, please notify Guildwood Cat Relief immediately. We will assist you and get your cat to the vet if it is deemed necessary. Owners who have already adopted a cat from Guildwood Cat Relief are still encouraged to contact us if they need advice or additional assistance with their sick cats.

We would encourage you to explore any available options to keep your cat(s) and you are welcome to explore some of these options with us. If you are unable to keep your cat(s), please contact us with your cat(s) name, colour, age, history of veterinarian care, and any other information that would help us find your cat(s) a new home as soon as possible. If we agree to take your cat(s) we will then send you a copy of our surrender form which must be filled out and sent back to GCR before booking an appointment to drop off your cat(s). If you have them, please bring your cat(s) veterinarian records with you.

Please note that there is a surrender fee of $50 per cat in most cases.
